Dear reader,

We would like to welcome you to our newsletter and introduce Gravitate Health, a public – private partnership with 39 members from Europe and the US.
Gravitate Health’s mission is to equip and empower patients with digital health information and tools that make them confident, active, and responsive in their patient journey, specifically encouraging safe use of medicines for better health outcomes and quality of life.
Our project is co-led by University of Oslo and Pfizer, funded by the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) – a joint undertaking of the European Commission, the EFPIA, and IMI2 Associated Partners.

Listen to #PolyPod: Gravitate Health and the digital health information journey

Dr Eva Turk, Dr Giovanna Ferrari, Industry Project Lead, and Prof. Anne Moen, Gravitate Health Coordinator, explain the background and the underlying need that lead to the setup of Gravitate Health as an integrated digital health information project.

Our journey
Our 5-year journey started with Phase 1, where our research to elicit stakeholder needs and capabilities to access health information from trusted sources in situations, contexts of use and roles can inform technology design. Input has been gathered from patients and their support network, health professionals, healthcare systems, industry, and regulators to ensure comprehensive insights from the stakeholders.
Who is Gravitate Health for
Maria is one of the many people who will benefit from the innovative solutions Gravitate Health brings forward. Listen about her daily challenges when travelling abroad and enjoy this video. A series with more challenges she is facing will follow. Stay tuned.
The Gravitate Health knowledge pills
We introduce here a series of “pills” where you can learn about the key concepts that inspire our work.
The Gravitate Health design approach
One of the timeless rules of design says that “To design a great experience, you need to understand the user’s perspective.”  We are aware that as intuitive as it may sound, that’s not always easy to implement when designing a solution or a product. Therefore, we in Gravitate Health decided to take the approach where the needs and wants of primary end-users in focus.
How do we do it? From the early beginning of the project we have ongoing conversations and creative efforts with the people who will interact with and use Gravitate Health solution. The first question posed to the users was “do you consider you have relevant information about your medication?”. Together we have been assessing challenges and concerns, “pain points” and “wishes”, our solution needs to take into account.
As a result, we have co-created Gravitate Health Personas, that demonstrate the dimensions that we can further elaborate and prototype in the testing scenarios. So, we bring this understanding into the development of the product by using human-centred design techniques and are keeping our User Advisor Group in the loop.

Learn about the WPs and key milestones
Our work is organised in 8 interlinked Work Packages (WPs) or Project Sections.
The Operative WPs enable “Patient Voice-Human touch” through innovative and personalized interventions, a multi-faceted evaluation set-up as well as technological development and interoperability capabilities (WP1, WP2, WP3, WP4, WP6).
The Transversal, supportive WPs include a communication and dissemination strategy, plans for sustainable exploitation and overall management and governance in the project (WP5, WP7, WP8).
Spotlight on WP1 “Listening”
Helena Harnik, Programs Director, The Synergist – Public Gravitate Health consortium co-lead for Task 1.1 answers.
Task 1.1 carried out an extensive review & end-users' consultation to identify the key stakeholder needs and the information personalisation desired features: what are the most important learnings?
Natercia Rodrigues, Senior Customer Experience Lead, Roche - industry co-lead for Task 1.2 Gravitate Health explains.
Task 1.2 designed a series of personas to help the design team to prioritise and address the features they will implement.
What are they? How will they help drive the next design steps?
